dwell SDA believes everyone deserves equal access to information and services. As a provider of Specialist Disability Accomodation, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of accessibility - both in the homes we build ad the digital experiences we deliver, in compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and WCAG 2.1 AA.

1. Our Commitment 

dwell SDA Pty Ltd ("dwellSDA", "we", "our" or "us") is committed to ensuring that our website, services, and homes are accessible to all people, including those with disabilities. As an NDIS Registered Provider of Specialist Disability Accomodation, accessibility is at the core of everything we do - from the homes we design to the digital experiences we create.

2. Web Accessibility Standards 

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide rage 0f disabilities, including:

  • Visual impairments: Scree reader compatibility, sufficient colour contrast, ad scalable text.

  • Motor disabilities: Full keyboard navigation and accessible interactive elements.

  • Cognitive disabilities: Clear language, consistent navigation and logical page structure.

  • Hearing impairments: Text alternatives of audio content and captioned video.

3. Accessibility Features of Our Website 

Our website includes the following accessibility features:

  • Semantic HTML: Proper heading hierarchy and landmark regions for screens reader navigation.

  • Alt Text: Descriptive alternative text for all meaningful images.

  • Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements are accessible via keyboard.

  • Colour Contrast: Text and background colours meet WCAG AA contrast requirements.

  • Responsive Design: Our website adapts to different screen sizes and devices, including assistive technology displays.

  • Focus Indicators: Visible focus outlines for keyboard users navigating interactive elements.

  • Skip Navigation: Skip-to-content links for efficient screen reader navigation.

4. Accessibility in Our Homes

Our SDA modular homes are designed and built to comply with the SDA Design Standard and the National Construction Code (NCC). Key accessibility features include:

  • Wheelchair Accessibility: Wide doorways (minimum 950mm clear opening.

  • Accessible Bathrooms: Roll-in showers, grab rails and adjustable-height fixtures.

  • Assistive Technology Integration: Smart home technology, automated doors, ceiling hoists and emergency call systems.

  • Safety Features: Non-slip flooring, rounded edges, wheelchair ramps with handrails and safety railings on all decks and patios.

  • Design Categories: We build across all SDA design categories - Improved Liveability, Fully Accessible, Robust and High Physical Support - to meet the diverse needs of NDIS participants.

5. Ongoing Improvements 

We are currently working to improve the accessibility of our website ad services. Our efforts include:

  • Regular accessibility audits of our website using automated tools and manual testing.

  • Incorporating feedback from users with disabilities.

  • Training our team on accessibility best practices.

  • Reviewing and updating our content for clarity ad readability.

  • Testing with assistive technologies, including screen readers and voice navigation.

6. Known Limitations

While we strive for fully accessibility, some areas may have limitations:

  • Third-Party Content: Some embedded content from third-party providers (e.g., maps, social media widgets) may not fully meet accessibility standards.

  • PDF Documents: Some older PDF documents may not be fully accessible. We are working to remediate these and provide accessible alternatives upon request.

  • Legacy content: Some older may not yet meet current accessibility standards. We are actively reviewing and updating this content.

We are committed to addressing these limitations and welcome feedback to help us improve.​

7. Assistive Technology Compatibility 

Our website is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies :

  • Speech Recognition: Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Voice Control (macOS/iOS).
