DwellSDA delivers modular housing for government, community and social housing projects across regional and remote Australia. Our off-site manufacturing model is particularly well suited to locations where traditional construction is logistically challenging, expensive or slow — including remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities where housing need is greatest and construction timelines are critical.
We work as a Design & Construct head contractor, managing the full project from design development and regulatory approvals through to manufacture, freight, installation and handover. Our clients include local government bodies, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander councils, and community housing organisations.
Delivering where it matters most
Building in remote locations presents challenges that conventional construction struggles to manage — scarce local labour, unreliable material supply chains, long wet seasons, and the high cost of mobilising trades to isolated sites. Our approach turns these challenges into advantages.
Dwellings are precision-built in a controlled factory environment to the highest quality standards, while civil and site works progress simultaneously on the ground. This concurrent programme significantly compresses the overall construction timeline. Completed modules are then transported by road and sea freight and installed by a specialist team, dramatically reducing the time tradespeople need to spend on site in remote locations.
The result is a faster, more predictable and more cost-effective delivery model — without compromising on quality, compliance or design, DwellSDA adapts its delivery approach to suit the specific requirements of each project, location and client.
Why modular works in remote communities
All DwellSDA community and government housing projects are designed and delivered in accordance with the Remote Housing Standards (August 2025) and the National Construction Code. Our homes are engineered for tropical and cyclone-prone climates, with appropriate wind ratings, roof overhangs, thermal performance and materials specification for the environments in which they are built.
Our Design & Construct delivery model is suited to AS4902-2000 contract frameworks commonly used by local government and Queensland Government housing procurement.
Standards and compliance
DwellSDA is committed to delivering genuine employment and economic opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities on every project we undertake. We partner with local Indigenous employment agencies and Indigenous-owned businesses to ensure that community members are employed on the projects being built in their own backyard — not just as a compliance exercise, but as a genuine commitment to community benefit.
On all relevant projects we prepare and deliver an Indigenous Employment and Business Plan (IEBP) in full compliance with Queensland Government requirements, committing to local employment hours, apprentice and trainee placements, and Indigenous business spend targets.
We are proud to work alongside organisations including Wugu Nyambil and HC Building & Construction to support local Indigenous communities.
